2026 Festival and Fair Calendar of Lesbos Island:
🎭 2026 Traditional Festival and Events Calendar of Lesbos
Events on the island are primarily shaped around religious holidays (Fairs) and thematic festivals based on local products.
🌸 Spring Period: Awakening and Faith
- Easter Celebrations (April 12, 2026): As in all of Greece, the grandest celebrations take place in Lesbos during this period. Especially in Ayasos and the city center, candlelight processions and traditional Easter tables are set up.
- Taksiarhis Fair (Mantamados) – (April 26-27, 2026 - "Special Festival"): It is the island's most famous religious event. Thousands of people flock to the church in Mantamados. The famous "Keskas" (keşkek) is cooked in giant cauldrons and offered to guests. These dates provide a unique atmosphere for your Mantamados stop on the tour program.
☀️ Summer Period: Entertainment and Gourmet Peak
- Bull Festival (Agia Paraskevi) – (End of June): One of the island's most archaic and intriguing festivals. It is celebrated with traditional horse races, music, and again the offering of keşkek.
- Uzo Festival (End of July - Beginning of August): Takes place in Plomari and central Lesbos. This is a period when MyMavitur guests can taste uzo, local producers set up stands, and Sirtaki spills onto the streets.
- International Eresos Women’s Festival (Beginning of September): An artistic and cultural festival held in Eresos, the hometown of Sappho, attracting visitors from around the world.
- Assumption Fair (Ayasos) – (August 15, 2026): The largest religious holiday of the island. The steep streets of Ayasos turn into a fairground where villagers showcase their finest handicrafts.
🍂 Autumn: Harvest and Flavor
- Sardine Festival (Skala Kallonis) – (End of August / Beginning of September): A complete gastronomic feast where the famous sardines from Kalloni Bay are grilled and distributed free of charge with uzo. "Special Festival"
- Olive Oil and Culture Days (November): With the beginning of the harvest, tasting events are organized especially in olive oil museums and villages.
When planning your tour programs, especially adding "Special Festival" notation for tours coinciding with August 15 (Ayasos) or end of April (Mantamados) dates can significantly increase your participant count. Because during these times, the island is not just a geography but a living carnival.
